Prep Schools' Chess Tournament

On Tuesday, the inaugural Prep and Junior School Chess Day was held at Ardvreck. Sixty pupils from Belhaven, Craigclowan, Loretto, Merchiston, St Leonard’s New Park and Ardvreck took part. The Junior and Intermediate Sections were won by Ardvreck pupils with the Senior Section won by a Belhaven pupil.   

Excellent coaching and instruction was provided by Mr Alan Borwell, an experienced chess player who has competed in numerous International Olympiads. He was greatly impressed by the overall standard of play and was also able to share some important chess tips. Well done to all the pupils who took part.
