Academic

Ardvreck is a school that excels at providing a high class education which promotes a life-long love of learning and interest in the world at large.

In the main school forms 1 and 2 (8 -9 year olds) are taught primarily by their class teacher although specialist subject teachers begin to feature regularly in the timetable.

In form 3 (10 year olds) and above pupils are taught by subject specialists, meeting periodically with their form teacher for pastoral and administrative purposes. Classes are set for mathematics and there is a separate stream for all subjects in the final year for those pupils entering their school via scholarship examinations.

You can find out more about the work of the individual departments by clicking the links on the side.

We are proud of our academic achievements at Ardvreck and we continually celebrate the effort, progress and success of our pupils. In their final year, children of all abilities are prepared to sit either Common Entrance or Scholarship examinations. This endeavour, which punctuates the transition from prep school to senior school, has proved to be a universally positive experience, serving pupils favourably in the future.

Over the past five years senior school destinations have included Ampleforth, Bryanston, Eton, Fettes, Glenalmond, Gordonstoun, Harrow,  Marlborough, Merchiston, Millfield,  Oundle, Radley, Rugby, Sherborne, Stowe,  St Mary's Calne, Strathallan and Uppingham.
