Athletics

Athletics is a major sport for boys and girls during the summer term. Training is offered in high jump, long jump, shot put, javelin, sprints, track and discus. There are three major competitive events during the term, starting with the school sports day, which takes place in May. Pupils compete to earn points for their houses (Barrie, Burns, Buchan and Scott). Pupils also compete individually with ribbons awarded for first, second and third place and cups for many events. The best junior, intermediate and senior overall are awarded the Victor and Victrix Ludorum trophies.

Later in the term, the best athletes in the school take part in the Scottish I.A.P.S. Championships, which take place at Fettes College, Edinburgh.

The final fixture of the term is the Blairmore Cup, a triangular fixture between Aberlour House and Lathallan School that has been competed annually since 1975. This is a team competition for seniors and intermediates.
