- Rua Fiola
Rua Fiola is a small, privately owned island off the West Coast of Scotland by Oban. The owner, Torquil Johnson-Ferguson, runs an island exploration centre from the island, where adventure, excitement, education and experiences can be found all rolled in to one. Unless you’re lucky enough to have been to Rua Fiola yourself, it’s hard to imagine just how magical the place is and how life-changing a week spent there can be.
Every year pupils in their final year head off after Common Entrance to the vibrant island full of life-enhancing opportunities. The week is spent effortlessly building skills to survive on an island overnight without adult supervision or food.
As well as learning how to climb, abseil, kayak, fish from the sea and have a great deal of fun, preparation includes an overnight expedition with a night spent in a cave or bivvy constructed by the children themselves and meals cooked over an open fire.
The week spent on Rua Fiola offers the children a chance to experience genuine adventure.
