International Pupils

A Scottish Adventure
A World of Opportunity

International Pupils at Ardvreck

For children joining us from around the world, Ardvreck offers something truly special: an outstanding British education, the warmth and security of a small boarding community, and an extraordinary childhood in the heart of Scotland.

Set within 40 acres of beautiful Perthshire countryside at the gateway to the Scottish Highlands, Ardvreck is a place where children have the freedom to explore, discover and grow. It is a safe, nurturing environment where international pupils quickly become part of the Ardvreck family and where every child is known, supported and
encouraged to make the most of every opportunity.

We welcome pupils from across Europe and around the world, whether they are joining Ardvreck for several years, an academic year or a shorter period of immersion in British school life.

Whatever their starting point, our aim is the same: for every child to leave Ardvreck more confident, independent and ready for their next adventure.

More Than a School. An Adventure.

Childhood at Ardvreck is meant to be lived.

Our spectacular Scottish location becomes an extension of the classroom. Mountains, forests and open countryside provide the backdrop to an education where adventure is part of everyday life.

Pupils learn, play and explore in the outdoors, developing confidence, resilience, independence and friendships along the way.

Days are filled with lessons, sport, music, creativity and adventure. Children might find themselves climbing hills, exploring woodland, competing for their school, discovering a new talent or simply enjoying time outside with their friends.

For an international pupil, it is an opportunity to experience a very different kind of British education - one where academic ambition sits alongside adventure, character and the freedom to enjoy being a child.

A Safe Place to Call Home

Sending your child to school in another country is a significant decision. At Ardvreck, we understand the trust international parents place in us.

Our deliberately small community means children are known as individuals. Boarding takes place in Dalvreck House, where pupils live together within a warm, welcoming and carefully supported environment.

Experienced boarding and pastoral staff are there throughout school life, helping children settle, build friendships and feel at home. Regular communication with families is encouraged, while our close-knit community means staff can provide the individual care and attention that is particularly important when a child is living away from home.

For many international pupils, boarding becomes one of the highlights of their Ardvreck experience: living with friends, sharing adventures and becoming part of a community that feels like a second family.

The Best of Scotland

Ardvreck offers international families the best of both worlds: a safe, peaceful location surrounded by spectacular Scottish countryside, while remaining exceptionally well connected to the rest of the world.

The School is within easy reach of Edinburgh International Airport, one of the UK's major international gateways, with direct flights connecting Edinburgh with destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America and beyond.
For international families, that makes reaching Ardvreck much easier than its beautiful countryside setting might suggest.

We understand that travel arrangements are an important consideration when choosing a boarding school overseas. Ardvreck therefore operates its own transport and transfer arrangements, helping pupils travel safely and confidently between the School, airports and key transport connections.

Excellent road and rail links provide further flexibility. Nearby Gleneagles railway station offers direct services to major UK destinations, including London, while Edinburgh and Glasgow airports provide extensive domestic and international
connections. We offer bespoke travel options to Glasgow and Edinburgh international airports as well as chaperoned, direct trains from London to Gleneagles.

For parents, this provides valuable reassurance: their child can enjoy the freedom, security and adventure of growing up in the Scottish countryside without feeling disconnected from home.

And once pupils arrive, Scotland itself becomes part of their education.

The mountains, lochs, forests, history and traditions surrounding Ardvreck provide an extraordinary backdrop to childhood - a place where children have space to explore, develop independence and experience adventures they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Preparing Children for Leading Senior Schools

Ardvreck is not simply a wonderful place to spend your prep school years. It is an exceptional preparation for what comes next.

We work closely with every family to understand their child's strengths, interests and ambitions and help identify the senior school where they are most likely to flourish.

Ardvreck pupils have successfully secured places at many of the UK's leading senior schools, including Sedbergh, Eton, Harrow and many more. Ardvreck also have an impressive record of securing scholarships to senior schools across the UK.

For international families who may be less familiar with the British independent school system, this experience is particularly valuable.

Our team can help families understand the different options, navigate the admissions journey and prepare their child academically, socially and personally for the transition to senior school.

It means Ardvreck can provide international families with much more than a British prep school experience. It can provide a trusted pathway into some of the UK's leading senior schools.

A Natural Pathway to Sedbergh

As part of the Sedbergh Schools Group, Ardvreck belongs to a wider charitable family of schools united by a shared ambition to expand opportunities for young people.

There is a particularly strong connection between Ardvreck and Sedbergh School, one of Britain's leading co-educational full boarding schools for pupils aged 13–18.

Ardvreck pupils have progressed to Sedbergh for many years, providing an established pathway for international families seeking continuity of a strong boarding culture, academic ambition, adventure and opportunity through to Sixth Form.
Importantly, Ardvreck remains committed to helping every family find the right senior school for the right child. Pupils continue to progress to an exceptional range of senior schools throughout the UK.

Part of Something Bigger

Being part of the Sedbergh Schools Group opens another world of opportunity for Ardvreck pupils.

Membership of the Group brings access to greater educational expertise, collaboration, professional development, shared resources and continued investment in Ardvreck's people, facilities and educational experience.

It also creates opportunities for pupils and staff to connect with a growing family of schools and partners in the UK and internationally.

For international families, there is additional reassurance in knowing that Ardvreck is part of a strong, ambitious and growing charitable group, committed to investing in its schools while protecting the individual identity, traditions and character that make each one special.

English Immersion Through Real School Life

Boarding at Ardvreck SchoolAt Ardvreck, international pupils don't simply study English - they live it.

English develops naturally through lessons, friendships, boarding, sport, activities, mealtimes, adventures and everyday conversations.

International pupils become fully immersed in the life of the School, learning alongside British pupils and participating in the same extraordinary range of experiences.

This immersive environment helps children develop much more than their language ability. They grow in confidence communicating in English, develop greater independence and cultural understanding, and build friendships with children from different backgrounds.

For pupils considering a longer-term British education, it can also provide an invaluable foundation for the transition to senior school.
